We will be having a leech party a bit later than usual this time. It will be done AFTER the finals for diploma/degree in June.
Venue: Auditorium OR G813
Date: 17 June 2011
Time: 10am-4pm*
*You may come at any point of time but if you want to copy from a certain someone, or a certain anime, read on for the full details.
What is the Leech Party about?
Simply said, it is a time when the members in the club share anime and/or manga on the spot by copying the data through mediums such as external HDD to a laptop.
What to share?
How to share?
**Done via connecting a computer to another computer either via LAN cable or via wireless. If you want to do this, please use Windows 7, Ubuntu or Mac OSX for the ease of file sharing. Otherwise, physical media is easier.
What precautions I should take before the party?
How should I leech?
When leeching, PLEASE copy only one medium at a time. DO NOT hoard multiple HDDs at a time for example. DO NOT be greedy. Maximum you should copy at a time should be 50GB if it is from an external HDD. Unless there isn't anyone else leeching after you, then it is alright to copy more.
If you have a USB 3.0 port, USE IT. It has a marginal benefit even for USB 2.0 connections. =)
Misc Notes
If there is anything else I forget, do provide feedback.

What precautions I should take before the party?
- Scan your laptop/netbook/HDD/pen-drive/etc for viruses and malware! Make sure it is up to date!

Misc Notes
- You don't need to stay for the whole meeting.
- If you're leaving your belongings behind, make sure you come back before 4pm.
- The owner of the CD/DVD/HDD, etc has the rights to unplug their belongings once the transfer is done.
- Take care when handling others' belongings.
- Bring an extension cord if possible. Makes leeching from large external HDDs easier.
- We will be screening anime, playing games and so on during the course of the meeting as an extra. Fixed anime may not run at that point of time.
If there is anything else I forget, do provide feedback.
